Gordon's Fine Wine & Culinary Center is excited to announce our partnership with Grape Experience, a WSET Approved Program Provider. Gordon's will host a WSET Level 2 Intermediate Certificate course this Spring 2012. The course runs for 7 Monday evenings – from 6PM to 9PM on the first and sixth evening and 6 to 8:15PM on evenings two through five.  The seventh evening is the one-hour exam.

The Intermediate Certificate is geared to anyone who has a strong interest in wine, wants to explore careers in the industry or already works in wine and wants to deepen their knowledge.  It can also be a course for beginners, as no experience is necessary to enroll.  At the end of the course students should be able to look at any major wine label and explain that wine’s basic taste profile and quality expectation.

The course at Gordon's has the following outline:

  1. April 2: Introduction to Tasting, The Factors that Impact Quality, Style, & Price
  2. April 9: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from around the world
  3. April 16: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc from around the world
  4. April 23: Syrah, Grenache, and Riesling from around the world
  5. April 30: Other Varietals - Italy and Spain
  6. May 7: Sparkling, Sweet, and Fortified Wines, Spirits
  7. May 14: Exam

The new WSET teaching style consists of tables set up with groups of 4-5 people.

Each student place setting has 6 glasses and a spit cup. Each table has a dump bucket and water pitcher, as well as a plate for crackers.

There are 44 wines and spirits (in total) examined and tasted throughout the course.

Adam Chase, (Candidate, Master of Wine), Jennifer O'Brien, and Alex Bluhm will be the primary instructors.

Each student receives a proprietary WSET Study Pack and exam as part of the course.

The WSET certification is recognized internationally.

This course may only be purchased as a package.
